I would say it was the result of Hitler's opportunism. He wanted power, so he found vulnerable groups who were unpopular and capitalised on that. Other people in the NSDAP may have taken the ideology on board, but his aim was simply power for its own sake rather than anything more sophisticated intellectually. He was more in the realm of Machiavelli intellectually than Marx.

What bills do you think were settled by the Nazi regime annihilating not only the Jews, but also gypsies and itinerants (not known for their financial acumen)?
