Being in my forties as well, I remember way back when the microwave oven first invaded our kitchens. And it seems as if EVERYONE forgot how to cook a hot dog as a result. One day around 15 years ago I got really industrious (hey, it was bound to happen sooner or later, fortunately it only lasted for a few minutes). In that sudden burst of energy I actually got a pot of water and boiled a hot dog. I've never gone back.
Now, I beg of you - boil your dogs. Or fry them. You can even grill 'em or bake 'em, but please for goodness sake stop abusing your frankfurters in the microwave. It's really is worth the hard work.

I would always do them in the micro - it's like 10 seconds versus boil the hot water put it in the pan etc etc!! I am getting so lazy these days ,lol, but at least I'm obviously not alone.

Never do them in the microwave because I like fried onions with them so the weiners go into the same frying pan. Yummy and I find the buns go "funny"

Some people have put their pets in the microwave to dry them off. Big mistake! eew
I reheat my coffee in a microwave - thats exciting isnt it? what a life I lead lol

Hotdogs are bad enough,
Why not bombard them with radiation,?
You probably won't live to see 40 anyway.

Everytime I make a hotdog....which isn't often...I use the microwave....I'm that lazy.

Well, there's something to be said about, "Not having a pot to wash." Especially when your only "nuking" a couple dogs. lol
