The Earth revolves around the sun because the force that swings away from the sun is equal to the force pulling it toward the sun achieving equilibrium. In essence the Earth is "falling" and "being tossed" at the same time. Because there is no reference plane, such as the ground on Earth, we often overlook this fact.
As for rotation, this is simply preserved velocity of rotation from the creation of the world. Its just not stopping because no force is stopping it. But I heard the friction with the Earth's mountains and the atmosphere is decreasing rotation by a so insignificant degree.

Earth rotates about itself once in a day of 24 hours. It revolves around the sun in an year of 365.25 days (approx.). The rotation and revolution are caused by the spinning and spiralling of dust particles from which the sun and the planets of the solar system formed.

Revolutes? REVOLUTES????? The word, my friend, is "revolves". The Earth rotates on its axis due to conserved angular momentum, left over from its formation. It REVOLVES around the Sun for the same reason, but the momentum being conserved is from that of the whole protostellar disc.

The earth has been set in rotation millions of years ago by a collision with a mars sized body-THEIA.it revolves around the sun due to gravity of sun & centripetal force.
