This is the scene during which the King gives himself away by seeing himself being impersonated in the play. Hamlet has decided that he will not simply take the word of a ghost but will discover for himself if his uncle killed his father and his method for doing this is to transpose the ghost's method of death into the play and watch the King's reaction. It contains many important passages, like Hamlet's advice to the actors "Speak the speech..." It also serves to launch into the climactic scenes following shortly after
