Although homoeopathic treatment has helped me greatly in the past, I have found that the skill of practitioners varies greatly. I am therefore unwilling to just choose one from professional registers or the phone book. So, has anyone cause to strongly recommend a practitioner in central England, South of Birmingham please?

Well Ivan, I went out of desperation, first thing did nothing, went back only because I had paid and the alternative worked like a charm. And vets use it....

You are right to not just choose any practitioner. I use one in Pittsburgh, PA, USA (sorry not UK) She is great, and does internet. Maybe if you can't find anyone closer you can check her out http://www.cindeegardner.com.

Yes, homeopathics do work if you know how to use them and what to use. They are actually very specific though, so it can take several tries to find the remedy that matches your symptoms exactly. Therefore, there are many skeptics and those who don't feel they work. It takes a good practitioner and an open, honest patient.

If the problem you are suffering from is in the mind (or something that sometimes gets better or worse on its own) then a 'skilled' practitioner of homoeopathy can give you a good placebo effect (that's about the only thing that most alternative medicine can provide) and make you feel a lot better (which is probably why having someone who seems knowledgeable about the topic can seem to help so much).

For real problems though homoeopathy is completely useless and won't actually help you (though it has the potential to delay medical treatment until it's too late) since it is just distilled water (and the vitalism it relies on has been rather well debunked).

Hello,

(ANS) I tried Homeopathy many years ago and was recommended a very respected woman practitioner but I found it just didnt work for me personally, thats all I can tell you.

**I don't personally believe in the concept of how Homeopathy is supposed to work anymore, I think its a nice new age idea but dangerously naive as there is no active ingredient in the remedies.

**The best that can be said of Homeopathy is that talking face to face with a practitioner has a placebo effect which is no better than going and talking to a counselor or therapist. A therapist might help more in fact in my view.

**Personally I would advise you to NOT waste your money on Homeopathic treatment and to seek a better alternative else where.
