I agree with the answerer who stated that its people who kill people, the problem with America appears to be that guns are so readily available to be put into the hands of someone who actually needs help. Guns are beginning to be more prolific here in UK - but they are not legal as they are in US.
Surely something has to be done about the control of guns in the US?

Your question should be When will "people" learn? Either way, the answer remains the same - Never!
As long as there are individuals and/or groups that want to kill others murder will remain an ongoing fact of our society because learning requires actual desire and for many people that desire will never come to fruition. Also, the media tends to glorify violence and the youth of today often fall into that deadly trap of believing what they see more quickly than the true reality that decency tries to teach them. Others are simply insane!!!
It's a very sad state of affairs but that's the world we must live in today.

Hello,

(ANS) Agreed!! this proves yet again how extremely dangerous US gun culture is. So how many more murders or deaths do Americans need before they change their attitudes and make constitutional changes to their laws.

**Look OK! may be guns were appropriate back in the late 1800's when the USA was still a young newish country, when the west was still wild. But frankly isn't America & the entire US stuck in a time warp of the 1800's mindset, & isn't it about time the "right to bear arms" was dropped in favor of a more human or humane way of solving conflicts??

**How many more Columbine massacres do we have to suffer, how many parents have to loose children or innocent adults cut down in cold blood.

**Why? won't Americans listen to what people like Michael Moore are saying?

**Why? do many Americans have a shoot first ask questions later mentality?

Good Question I'll star later, to your point when people closet to a Mentally Ill loved one and do a public evaluation on the Mentally Ill, will get to understand where people like Brian Hawkins are coming from losing a job, losing a girlfriend, being throwing out by your parents, its all have to do with him dealing with Manic Depression.

When will America learn when we deal with Mental Illness Properly taht's where you gotta look at.

Thank you

When they realise that it is those obsessed with guns who do the killing. Criminals do kill, it is true. But their aim is usually robbery or some such. And there will always be illegal guns. But these madmen who kill classes of kids, seem to have an arsenal, be obsessed with guns and they have licenses to own them.
We don't need handguns anymore. My father owned quite a few and never ever used them for self defense. And he lived in South Africa.

A gun was just the fad to use when you want fame.
If he could not get a gun he would have used a car or and knife. If the media would never show his face or tell his name we would not see so much of this.

Sadly, its not just America & guns.
Get into the tribal areas & its knives & swords.
What worries me is what he said "now i'll be famous"

Can you just imagine what must have gone thru' that poor twisted young mind?

Does the media & the fame/notoriey it affords rule our lives to this extent?
