There should be and will be a 16 team playoff with the 12 conference champs (some say only 11 of them) and 4 (or five) at large berths. The top ranked teams will rake in more money than in any bowl as they would host at least the first two games and share none with the corporate sponsors of the bowls- plus it will bring in money to the LOCAL economy.
I cannot attest to the accuracy of the computers- they are programmed by people to look at what those people want looked at. Is Ohio State really better than Oklahoma or would Oklahoma pound them handily??? Good question and we'll never know because the team that ended the season winning consistently over good teams is not going to the NC game...
Not a fan of either, just making a point

the BCS for all the griping and arguing gets it right more time than not.

there are usually no more than 3 or 4 deserving teams for the bcs title. i think when the current contract is up the BCS will become a 4 or 8 team play-off or the and 1 scenario. an 8 team play-off they would only need to move 2 more bowls to the BCS level. and 1 more week to the season.

no matter how many teams are in 2 (now) 4, 8, 64 there will always be teams and media arguing we got snubbed. look at march madness. as soon as the 65 teams are announced the first thing espn, fox sports does is run a 'who got snubbed more' poll.

ok first off....it just wouldnt be as fun.....whats the point of playing a season...u might as well just have a playoff from the start and there u go......the reason why no playoff is because of that very reason....the season would mean nothin...that the top 8 teams or 16....can all win the national championship....even the the number 1 team only has 1 loss....and some 13 maybe have 3....the bcs isnt always fair...but thats what makes each game important.....and the computer is accurate....it rates everything from who teams have beaten...and by how much and how many points....it has a lot to it

Even if we do have a playoff system it would use the Computer avg, Harris and Coaches poll to determine who was going to play and in which slots.

But yes they need a playoff desperately, especially this season. They say the reason they are against a playoff is because it would extend the season into the spring semester of school (something they apparently want to avoid). B(c)S

Is not that accurate because Oklahoma should be in the BCS championship game. They beat Mizzou twice and Mizzuo was no.1. Neither LSU or OSU should be in the Championship game bcause LSU lost twice while they were no1and OSU lost to Illinois.

College football needs to do what college basketball and college hockey have done with their tournaments - do not use the human polls. College basketball uses the RPI as one of its major tools, and then looks at conference record, record vs. top 50, top 100, etc., record over last 10-15 games, quality wins, bad losses, etc. to determine who gets in. College hockey uses the Pairwise Rankings, which compares every team to every other team based on RPI, head-to-head, common opponents, and record vs. other teams under consideration (record over .500). That eliminates most (not necessarily all) biases.

2/3 of the input for the computer is based on opinions.
1/3 the opinion of 'unbiased' coachs poll and 1/3 'unbiased' press votes.
I love the 'unbiased' part...lol...

Now, what do YOU think about the accuracy....
