Hey, commuters and travellers, what would be the cheapest way to get to Paris around Christmas? Thanks

Looking at your past Qs you're in England.

£150 return available on Eurostar for the weekend before Christmas as long as you spend the Saturday night in Paris.

The ferry is often a false economy as you still have to get to the port in England and then from the French port to Paris. It takes forever too.

I never answer these highlighed questions but Paris has a very special place in my heart. So, National Express coach to Dover (change at Victoria station, London). Foot passenger on Sea France (or any ferry, they're much the same). Get off at Calais, cheap B+b for the night if necessary, then train to Paris. The Hotel Gard De Nord is right outside the station and actually OK for a couple of nights. If you're not too tall. Ah, my first proper holiday with my husband. Went back on our first anniversary and got my handbag nicked, spent the whole weekend in police stations, not quite so romantic, so be careful. Still fun though, daft as it sounds. Parisians are extremely kind and helpful people in my experience, as well. None of the daft stuff that you get elsewhere.

Oh the Eurostar is by far the best!! St Pancras station is truly amazing. It is like a holiday in itself going there. You must pop into the Champagne Bar upstairs whilst you are there. I recommend booking a non-flexible leisure select return ticket in advance for you're trip. The journey is about 2 hrs 20 mins London St Pancras to Paris Gare de Nord station.

With this ticket you will get champagne, and fine wine served to you're seat on-board, and also a three course meal at you're seat with dedicated on-board hosts to see to you're every need. You will arrive refreshed and relaxed. If you want to budget slightly you can go on standard but there is very little leg room here, the seats are very cramped. I believe prices start from about £80 return standard and about £160 leisure select (well worth the extra IMHO).. give it a try! Eurostar rules!

Oh and also remember Eurostar is a carbon neutral company. They will offset the carbon emissions produced by you're travel at no extra cost to yourself! Air travel would be much more damaging

I'd take the Eurostar, personally. It really doesn't take that much longer than flying, considering the time needed to taxi out to the runway wait for clearance, and land/dock at the other airport. They usually have very low fares (around 60 pounds roundtrip), serve food, and run every hour for a high level of convenience. Otherwise, I'd look to Ryanair and easyJet for low fares. Just be warned, these flights are NOT comfortable and often fly into little airports quite a distance from the city center.

My cheapest ever trips have been on my motorbike, followed by Eurolines coach service. Budget airlines of brill but as I speak aircraft are still unable to land in Central Paris, you'll need to catch the bus from CDG! I'd suggest you stump up a little extra cash and try Eurostar you won't regret it

you could try to get last minute flights, some of those are really cheap, but you have to be prepared to go like at a days notice or less, and you also have to search for the flights. If you live in the UK, probably use the eurostar, or that new railway between london st pancreas and paris. that is fairly quick.

National Express Coach see gobycoach website to book once there use the metro and/or buses if they aren't on strike and walk Paris isn't that big.

I wouldn't hire a bike as only parisians are likely to survive

Well you could phone her, but I assume you mean Paris, France, you could hitch hike or you could cycle. Walking works. Good luck and have a lovely Christmas if you get there. Speaking French would also be an asset. Au revoir.

The cheapest (i.e. no cost) are walking and swimming. But you don't really mean that.

Depends on where you are - but bmi baby are offering a flight from East MIdlands to Paris on 19 December for £12.99
