What are some natural antidepressants I could try before resorting to prescribed medication. I dont have extended medical right now, and am very tight on money, so I cant afford therapy/medication. But I need some type of help.

Any suggestions? Preferably some that wont negativly effect the effectivness of birth control

Thanks

I know that exercise even if its just walking around the block a couple of times helps. Also getting 20-30 minutes of natural sunlight and getting enough sleep help. Taking a good quality multi-vitamin especially vitamin b. If you are on birth control stay away from st john's wort or anything that will affect your hormones. The people at the natural food stores are usually pretty knowledgeable about supplements. Also if you are on birth control pills that may be part of the reason you feel depressed. do a lot of reading.

Proper nutrition, exercise, and good sleep will aways assist in warding off depression, unless you have a chemical imbalance or some external issues effecting you.

I recommend a good supplementation to your current diet with increased water intake, Glyconutrients, PhtyoSterols, AntiOxidant (ORAC of over 10,000), and some Phtyo-Based vitamin supplementation.

Add regular exercise and ensure you get good rest and you will begin to feel better. Its not as fast as a drug, but as your body begins to work better and get what it needs every day, you will begin to feel better and your depression will be a distant memory.

And a plus, what I recommend above is all just food for your body or change in lifestyle, no adverse effects will be seen and no interactions with anything else you are taking (unless it is fast food or some other unhealthy intake).

I got help for my own depression here:

www.3-minute-depression-cure.com

Their solution is mental - so it won't effect birth control, or any other medication or herb you take. They were able to help me figure out what was causing my depression, and how to stop it! I feel SO much better now! And if I start to feel like I'm sinking into the murky depths again, I can stop it just by taking a little time to think things over!

I hope you find something that works for you!

Hi

I see you have gotten excellent advice homeopathy-wise, but you still have to choose the right remedy. You can also try for Bach flower remedies, the main remedies for depression in that therapy would be Mustard and Gentian, but you might need a few more remedies to cover your entire situation.

If you or some of your friends are into Reiki, go for that. If you are not into Reiki, here is a page of mine that will give you the benefit of distant Reiki treatment for half an hour everyday. It should be particularly suitable for your situation since using that page is free. The link is:

laughter. might sound silly but it works. this was the advice my friend was given to help her cope with a life threatening illness and we helped her get a serious belly laugh happening. you know the sort where you have tears and snorts and all sorts of other noises we all felt better after and still have giggle sessions regularly

Keep lilacs around. The color and smell of purple lilacs help promote happiness.

My doctor told me to do that.

Also exercise. It releases endorphines that will help you maintain happiness. Eating a piece of chocolate a day will also release these endorphines.
