here's the scenario...
so, 3 times my work calls me during my day off to come to work (like yesterday) to cover someone shift BUT everytime they call, i'm engage to other committments (errands, appointments, etc.)

ok, so i go into work today and my manager calls me into her office saying that the request to switch schedule tomorrow will be granted but when it comes to me requesting to switch or to request time off on a future date, she said that she will not authorize the switch or RTO. she mentioned names of other workers thats able to come into work on their day off and calls them her "star employees" and she said that "i better step it up if i wanna become a star" ( who the f*ck cares, just as long as i do my job, right?)

isnt this a threat or something? can she say this? i mean, common, it was my day off.

i cant let this go so what steps should i do??

Good Luck! You have to be happy in your workplace. Stress is not worth it! There are jobs out there, find someplace that will appreciate u & treat u fairly. You are smart to keep you job until u find another one. I don't think there is anything u can do, that's just how it goes sometimes. Her comment was unnecessary & inappropriate. Could u speak to her supervisor? Who is ur mngr.'s boss?
Don't let it affect u too much, just do what u gotta do(whatever u decide is right), then move on. Calm ur mind, then ask for wisdom to make the right decision.

Talk to HER manager...see if there is anything you can do. She didn't threaten you...she just let you know how it is...if you want to be a star employee to her then you will do those things the others do. That's what makes them a star. If you don't wanna be then don't be. But don't expect that any favors will be given. See what company policy is before you go off half ****** too. Not saying she is right but she isn't really wrong either. Just keep your mouth shut, don't answer your phone on your off days and get the other job.

Managers have their own axe to grind and in many instances they can be an awful pain in the a**. However, they are where they are because they can be offensive and pushy and hard nosed. I realize that you had a great deal to do on your day off but it is always wise (if you can work it out somehow) to deal with the situation of being asked to come in regardless of this inconveniences you. This is if you really like your job and see a future in it. If you feel that you will be employed by this firm for only a short while and that you do not feel that the future looks too Rosy, then you can merely act the way you did.
Getting ahead in this world is at times kissing someone's a** if that person is in a position to either harm or help you. I have rarely kissed a** but I must admit that on occasion I had to because it was called for and I knew that it would help my career. It usually did. I made it eventually to the top and I would at times ask for special favors of the people who worked for me but I never gave them gold stars for their help. I treated them with dignity and at Christmas time I usually gave them something special...money at times out of my own pocket because of their help when I needed it. The decision is yours but my suggestion is to back off and let it go. If you take her on she will undoubtedly win and you will be miserable.

When you are off from work, leave town. They will get the message. When you are laying up in the hospital from bad health related to work stress. They will replace you. So do yourself a favor. Look for something better, why you still can.

I don't blame you, I don't like to work on my day off either.

However, I think she is sending you a message, if they have to ever let anyone go, you will be the first to be let go.

If I were you, I'd start looking for another job.

Apparently , they now feel they cannot count on you to help out should somebody call off work so don't expect any favors.
Take it any way you want. I would suggest you do nothing, except be willing to come in on your day off if they need you.
I take good care of people who help others and myself out, but
If someone told me "Who the f--- cares and long as I do my job, " I guarantee this would be the last day they work for me.

It sounds like you're not very happy in this position to begin with. The manager is playing office politics with you, which is unfortunate, but not illegal. If you're doing your job, just keep doing it until you find something better, and don't burn any bridges on the way out.
