I see no source or data that some how proves that America has lost anything.
An individuals dislike or belief is nothing more than an opinion a false belief or a desire to deceive.
Many love/ like/ envy/ fear the USA. A free and often contentious population that can bear arms , give and take insults, tolerate self-centered buffoons/politicians and generously provides aid and food for the world's less fortunate or those oppressed by their own leaders.
No other country has achieved so much and nurtured
their population.
Many nations fear such a society as it threatens their ability to
establish rule by decree of whatever their ruler/leader/elites want. Those that seek power lust after the restrained power of the US as they would use the power without pause for the death/suffering it would cause. They deride/demean and seek support for the foolish Americans who could have it "all"
...PSYCH 101...get dupes to repeat and convert others ..provide a misinformation mantra that will produce dislike hatred ,anger divisiveness with the hope that action will be taken from within because of a planted belief that XXX was bad/evil/deservign of hate/or elimination.
I would suggest you do some research ....

In the first place, there is no such thing as respect. Every country is just co-existing. Respect is just an overrated word.

Every other country is either jealous or afraid so they act civilized. They want something from America and to do business you need to be nice to each other.

Every country has their own strong and weak points. The reason why American is front page it's because it's on the top. If you're on the top the only way you'll go is down.

So, I believe America will only lose respect if Americans lost their respect first.

After WWII and during the Vietnam War is when. Why is much more difficult. I suppose a reason, in part, would be that other countries lost respect for us.

France eventually detested having to be liberated by us. It simply took several years for them to realize it. Now they act as though it never happened.

And Germany... Well they have a mixed bag of feelings about what we did to them. War is war, and it caused the deaths of many germans that didn't need to be killed. Blanket bombing kills whoever without discrimination.

And the Jews... Well they truly appreciated our efforts and we do respect them now that they have a country.

England and Isreal are two Countries that we do respect and there are many, many countries that we have never respected or disrespected. We simply never gave them a thought.

Organizations and our Government gives medical supplies, food and even cash to many third world countries. Some Americans even go there to help in person.

As a world traveler in the airline industry, my experience has shown that most people don't hate America, but rather hate George Bush. The mass outcry against the war in Iraq has sent a very loud message to the world that the country does not support the president.

From April 25th through May 5th I was in France, a country notorious for hating America. What I found was that there was very little hatred for America, but a mass disgust for the president. The same applies to other places I have been in the past two years, such as England, Australia, Japan, Egypt, Spain, Germany, Italy and more.

You are assuming that that we have lost the respect of other countries.........but I don't buy that talking point. If we have lost the respect of other countries, it is because we are proving that as a whole, we are a weak people. When the U.S. acts like the strong country that we have been in the past(WW 2 as an example) the rest of the world has to respect us. Do not confuse lack of respect with jealousy. It is ironic that every country in the world would kill for a resilient economy like ours, and yet we have a political party(the Democrats) that are actively doing everything in their power to destroy it. Yet this same party loves socialist dictators like Chavez, and Castro.
Unfortunately the people that don't respect the U.S. is the left, or Democrat party, in the U.S.
Hugo Chavez, China, and other leftist regimes, shout us down constantly, but could not survive without our dollars
This is a long winded way of saying that you are quite wrong my friend, and you have been duped by the classic media, the government school(read public) you attended, and all of the undereducated friends you hang with

You know it doesn't really matter what we do...

People will always find ways to blame America.

Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe other people are just jealous. We are a relatively young nation with huge mix of people and for some reason...we all get along with each other.

We have great technology, great medicine...great road networks, and transportation systems...

America may have problems...but America is not the problem.

I would say under President Johnson and with the Viet Nam War. We have never regained credibility since. And each police action and war the US has waged since has brought respect down more. Since the decline of the USSR, the US has been much like the bully on the block, beating up others without reproach. Remember with the USSR, about half the world hated them more. Now we're the only Superpower and just about all countries now hate the US.

We never lost the respect of other countries. This is an urban myth.

At the height of the liberal-made panic that America was losing all of its friends, I was traveling around the world with the military. In every country I went to, I saw the same thing: apathy.

About 80% of the people in the world don't watch the news enough to care about world events, and so when you meet them, they see you as just another foreigner.

The other 20% usually support the US. In every country I visited, I found at least a few who singled me out for some kind of favored treatment, and that has lead to some interesting stories, I'll tell only one here in the interest of space.

On one of my visits to Dubai (on the Saudi penninsula), a cab driver picked me up and starting chatting me up. Yes, they speak English. English is the world's most used language. As soon as he found out that I was an American service member, he started grinning like a sailor with a blow up doll and offered me a tour of the city free of charge. He taught me a lot about the city and people. I learned how to recognize native dress of a half dozen countries and got to see a lot of sites that many of the other sailors either paid for or never saw.

Nothing special, just one of many examples of the way our country and government inspires others around the world. Don't let liberals teach you that we're hated. They're liars, plain and simple.

(Incidently, there is a place in Dubai called the Seamen's Center, a sort of club where American sailors hang out while on break from duties. The center is not protected in any way, unless you count the decorative cement wall around the property and the (one) guard at the gate, unarmed. It's in the middle of the city, and as far as I know, it has never been attacked, even though it's a sitting duck and always full of Americans.)
