Both are equal. However as parents you should have a normal healthy paternal instinct. With that said the scales of equality should more than likely tip towards your child. If you are in a healthy loving family relationship you will need them both to complete your family unit. As a Husband and a Father I would say, from my very masculine and some what biased point of view, that they should both carry very real and seemingly equal importance. Not equal in that they are equal in need or stature.

Your baby is a taker and can only receive as of now, so for both you and your husband there is that challenge and task to be had. With that said and assuming that the responsibility to raise and read this child is seen as equal responsibility your value for your husband should be all the more.

Your desire to place high value on your baby, and rightfully so, should put both spouses in a position to want and need the other all the more.

This is why i feel fro single parents and wonder how they do it.

In Short their should not be a greater importance on either, rather their should only be a differeing importance.

im not married. and if i were, i'd consider my baby more important than hubby :-) because my baby is my direct biological offspring whereas my hubby is just a spouse that's coupled to me under the contract

Both are important, but as to which is your first priority NOW, is the baby, but in the end,....Your husband.
Your baby will grow up soon, leave the nest and start their own family. Your husband will be with you always until death.

I don't see why I should have to choose.
But if I had to choose I guess it would be my child because she grew inside me, I gave her life and that is a connection no man and woman can ever have.
Hubbies sometimes leave and you can get another hubby but when it's your child--its your child for life and you can never replace them.
it's a hard question.

I'm not married yet sis, but if I am, both are equally important... It's just that the baby needs more attention from me than my husband...
And without my husband, I wouldn't have a baby too... ^_^
