I've just started using my new adidas basketball shoes (not sure which model), and it seems to get pretty slippery because of the dust in the gym. What are some ways to improve the traction of my basketball shoes playing on hardwood floor.

There are a few things you can do. If you play organized ball, there are sticky mats you can purchase. Put this at the scores table, and when one sheet isn't sticky anymore, just peel it off. You can get a towel, put it away from the court a little bit, wet it down with some water, wipeee your shoes before you play. If your not into licking your hands all the time, just use your own sweat. Run your hands through your hair, and wip down your shoes. If you wear long socks, you can always wip your shoes on your socks.

Other than using the floor mop, these are some other ways.
Good Luck.

We've all seen players lick their hands and wipe their shoes but for those of us with hygiene you just have to deal with it. I totally understand the dusty gym thing and it is frustrating. I just wish they left a big dust broom out or something so we could get it nice before playing. Outside of a wet rag to wipe shoes off and repeatedly licking hands and wiping shoes there's not much to do.

because it would actually make it very slippery, as a basketball player i often have to wipe the bottom of my shoes to keep it dry, and gripped

My girls dance and when the floor is too slippery we spray the bottoms of their shoes with hairspray. It seems to improve the grip. Might be worth a try.
Or you could rough up the soles of your shoes with some coarse sandpaper.
