higher draft selections don't equal success. Look at all the great teams over the years. They've mostly been made of lower end draft picks and sometimes guys just off the street. The Denver Broncos of a decade ago are the best example of this. Look at where Tom Brady was drafted!
I think the NFL Draft's higher selections more often than not are overrated
Anyway, NFL teams have a lot more pride than to lose games on purpose

There is no way to prevent this, other than a coach and executive staff that values morals over economics.

It is easy to say that a team should lose their last game so they are guaranteed to have the first pick. But to me this goes against all principles of the game.

Nothing can be done. How can you prove that a team lost on purpose? You can't. They may have just sucked so bad, because they suck so bad.

I suppose you could change the draft and make it a lottery. The non playoff teams have a lottery for the order of the picks. This way the only factor is that you did not make the playoffs and not that you lost more than anyone else.

But I feel that we should keep believing in the integrity of the game and have faith that a team will not throw a game just to get a better draft pick. Of course we need the media on board, so they can stop saying that a team was stupid to win and that by winning they just cost themsevles a top draft pick.

We need everyone to forget about the draft and play as hard as they can, regardless of where they finish.

Is this possible...I would like to think so, but with today's 'use every advantage" society, I am not so sure.

No team wants to win a game only to find out that they could have had the next Montana if they had lost.....but they should not think that way. The draft was set up the way it is to help the true worst teams. If you win your last game or two, you were not the true worst and you can only hope that the true worst was actually truly the worst.

There wouls have to be hard evidence showing them throwing a game. Do the "Black Sox's" ring any bells. They threw the 1919 Wolrd Series, they also got banned for life from Baseball. I really don't think any NFL player would want to risk all that just for a draft pick. They had some tough games this year, and injuries are killing them. Hey only time will tell...

Ravens followers are such crybabies! You lost the Colts. handle it! you have your individual group now, a former NFL champion group, what are you nonetheless complaining approximately?! If Baltimore hadn't made lots of errors this season, they might have gained greater video games and would not be in this mess. The Ravens basically handed the activity to the Steelers the day purely before this with a hundred+ yards in effects, which comprise a pair that prolonged Steelers drives that could desire to in any different case have ended. This mess they have gotten themselves into is actual of their very own making! do no longer blame the Colts on your shoddy play this season!

Well, if you had played football then maybe you would understand that players wouldn't throw away games, especially NFL players, they've put in so much work to get to where they are today. Pride is a powerful motive for athletes.

So unless the coaches purposely put in their worst players or call the wrong plays, I don't think a team would throw away games.
