Names are actually sort of a passion of mine. Don't ask me why, 'cause I couldn't tell you. I've just always found them fascinating.

When I was a kid, I wanted to start going by my middle name (Nicole), but I wanted to spell it Nikole & have people call me Nikki. My parents refused to go along with it, though, & I eventually gave up. I still wasn't happy with my name, though. There were far too many Amandas, & Mandy just did not fit me. As I got older, I realized that the name was right; it was just the SPELLING that didn't fit. I tried going by Mandi for awhile, but that wasn't it, either.

When my best friend was writing a (hand-written) note to me, she accidentally tacked an e onto the end of Mandi... and that was it! I knew THAT was what I was meant to be called. I've gone by Mandie about half the time (still Amanda the other half, since I have come to like it) since then. I just have people call me whichever they like better : )

And now I really don't know that there is another one I'd like better... At least for a first name. My LAST name is another story! It's not terrible, not unpronouncable or ugly or anything, but it's too common! I'm just bored with it, especially after 28 years of bearing that particular name. : P

So now I'm just looking for the right guy to help me change that... ; ) It's actually exciting to think that I could fall in love with an Eisenhartzen or a McClure or a Jenkins or a Holmstran or a Malcolm or... You get the picture. I look forward to getting a new name to add onto my old family name! It could be Dinklebottomfilg for all I care. It's just fun to think of getting a new last name. : )

If I HAD to change my first name, right this minute... I'd probably change it to Nikki. :D lol All the other names I like (and there are many!) I just use in my writing, and my very, very favorites I'll use on my kids when I have them.

My name is Janice but everyone calls me Jan. I don't like or act like a Janice. I wish they would have named me January because that is the month I was born and it would be much more interesting and probably fit me better.

One lady said her daughter wanted to be named Brittany, well that is my daughters name and she wishes I had used her middle name of Shea. My son Beau on the other hand likes his name. It's easy for people to remember and people seem to like it.
