The Dodgers can use his power and are hoping he can make better contact with the ball and get his average up. He is well worth the money if he can return to the form he has demonstrated in the past.

properly, i've got basically had a guy-overwhelm on Andruw Jones when you consider that he got here up with the Braves 10-years in the past, so i wouldn't precisely be the main objectional opinion. in spite of the undeniable fact that i'm a Met fan, so it kinda negates my organic bias, lol. in my opinion i think of Jones is primed for a huge twelve months. Andruw continuously struck me because of the fact the form of character that would not carry out in a settlement twelve months (as antagonistic to lots of ballplayers who use that one twelve months as the thank you to gets a commission, whether they are actually not wonderful). i think of this is greater significant to look at what Andruw has executed throughout his profession particularly than purely overreact to final season. to assert he's out of his best is stupid, he's in his best proper now! He has the recent settlement, he's in a sparkling placing in L.A. the place there is no longer a TON of rigidity on him, in line with possibility greater effective than Atlanta, whether this is no longer Boston or manhattan. And all of us know Jones is an remarkable skills. He gets to patrol a effective enormous ballpark and prepare that he hasn't lost a step defensively. permit's no longer overlook some years in the past people have been pointing out Andruw Jones as between the 'maximum suitable shielding centerfielders' of all time. i in my opinion have faith he ought to have gained the MVP 2 years in the past while Pujols gained it, because of the fact he single-handedly carried the Braves on his back offensively. i think of his ability numbers will inherently circulate down going to that spacious ballpark in L.A. - yet that does no longer advise he won't be able to be an remarkable participant. To me however, Jones is a superb skills and an remarkable addition for any group. i think of functional expectancies for him this twelve months are .277/36/a hundred and fifteen and a few spectular play in the sphere.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. At least he'll bring his glove to the park, stop a couple extra bases from being taken, and throw a handful of guys out. He will only help keep about 1 run a week off the scoreboard, but that's sizeable at best. He'll throw in a couple HRs, but I'd bat him 7th in that lineup. The Dodgers overpaid slightly, but got a much better deal than the Angels did, and he if doesn't work out he's gone after 2009 and they can reload. It's a risk/reward w/ a safe bet mixed in. I give it a B-.

Waiting for the first confrontation of the coaching staff and Jones when he dogs a play in the outfield. If he drove Bobby Cox nuts, just imagine what he'll do to Torre & Mattingly! LOL

He is the big bat they needed. and a MUCH batter center fielder than lollipop arm Juan Pierre. He is a strikeout machine however and his career avg is damn near embarrassing. But I like that they didn't break the bank for him. I like the move.
