That seems to be the solution some think will work. Of course S. Africa tried that more or less,and since their murder rate has skyrocketed,currently number two in the world. It never really works,never has,never will. If a criminal wants a gun they will get it. Of course you also get situations where if a society has very little ability at personal protection(guns) the criminals don't need guns,4 or 5 of them just attack you and beat you to death. Getting rid of guns has zero effect on crime rates,it at best changes the ways in which crimes are commited.

Fact is even when you take mass shootings into account guns account for about 1/3 as many deaths and injuries as automobiles,yet I never hear anyone talking about outlawing cars,except maybe Al Gore. The object behind "gun control" has never been about violence or crime,since it stops neither of these,it's mostly about the "control" part.

Gun-control is intended to keep guns away from convicted felons and the mentally ill. Any laws passed that take guns away from law abiding citizens would be unconstitutional. Some local governments have ignored this and passed their own ordinances, but the Supreme Court would likely side with gun owners' rights if these laws were challenged.

The answer is every American is issued a firearm at age 18. Then if some whackjob gets out of line everyone else shoots him.

Actually, it's the liberal lefties that want this done. It is part of their agenda to take away traditional individual rights and create a new country where anything goes. What they don't seem to understand is that regions where people are allowed to carry weapons tend to have fewer problems with "crazies" and generally, less crime than those who do not. Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

Obviously, the sign on the door to the shopping mall that says, "No Firearms" was completely ignored! Maybe they just needed a bigger sign! You notice this kind of crap never happens in Arizona? It's an Open-Carry state.
