He doesnt like to recieve gifts...Seriously... at first I thought he was just saying it to be cool. But I bought him an mp3 player and he really seemed weirded out like he didnt understand why I bought it for him. Then he told me that he really doesnt like to recieve things from me he just likes to give me stuff. Is that odd to you?

If he doesn't like receiving material things as gifts then just keep giving him love and affection. He sounds like a good man to me.

Some people are like that. I don't mind recieving gifts, but I never react the way any gift giver who thinks they got me something wonderful wants me to react, simply because I dont show emotion... But I do know people that truly do not want to recieve any gifts.

One guy I work with was never allowed gifts as a kid, his father would destroy any toys he got or whatever before he ever had a chance to play with them. Now he feels very very awkward when anyone gives him anything, he doesn't even like to borrow a dollar or two when he's short for lunch, he'd rather not eat.

My father-in-law is also like this, he'll take anything a kid makes in art class or whatever, and he likes getting t-shirts that were freebies at work or something, but he won't accept gifts that were purchased. And even the free gifts can't be wrapped, he thinks wrapping paper is a waste of money. A recycled paper bag from the grocery store is perfect wrapping for him, and he has saved "birthday card" my wife made for him out of a napkin at a restaurant for over 10 years now. He grew up poor, but has money now, he just hasn't learned to live with it yet... He's in his mid 50's, so I doubt he ever will.

So yeah, there are people like that out there. Sure, it seems weird, but everyone has quirks. Unless you really have a good reason to do otherwise, why not respect his wishes?

No, it's not odd. I like to give gifts but really don't like to receive gifts too. Because my husband will give me a gift that doesn't fit, jewelery that's not my style and etc....Then I have to smile and lie that I love it and then have to exchange it (which I really don't like to do). Every Christmas, I tell my husband and kids exactly what I want such as a certain book or music CD or else I'm stuck with things that goes in my closet. I also don't want them spending a lot of money on something I don't need.

I'm like that I'm very picky. Your husband is a nice guy he would rather get nothing than to tell you he doesn't like your gift. Maybe give him money or a gift card or something. If it was me I would prefer my favorite meal with candle light with you wearing something nice and sexy.

Well, they do say its better to give than to receive.

He obviously just likes the buzz of giving but tell him you'd like to have the same pleasure of seeing HIM happily receiving a gift.

Yeah, it is a bit odd...

I don't know. Maybe he feels if he needs something he'll just go out and get it for himself.
My husband loves getting gifts. I think if you took a poll you'd find that most men do.

That doesn't sound too weird. My husband is the same way. Any time I get him anything her looks at me as if I have 3 heads. It is just their nature.

mines the same.

but gee.. he just LOOOVES buying himself stuff too :)

he handles me giving him presents only because i tell him that it makes me happy, and i would be sad if i wasn't able to give him something.
i give him little presents or things for around the house - hey, it's what he prefers!
and then i give him experiences as presents. Like a picnic, a road trip etc.

I don't like to get stuff. But mostly that is because I don't think I deserve it. (I have issues.) I don't think he is odd though. But there is usually a reason behind this.
