The idea of Jihad and making war on people who do not believe in Islam. They see the idea of Jihad as making war on anyone or group that does not believe in Islam or that Muhammad was a prophet. So they blow up innocent people saying the people were not innocent because they did not believe in Islam and would not submit to Islamic law. I would rather die that be under Islamic law. I mean not being able to openly worship as one believes, having to pay a tax just because your not a Muslim. Look at what they did to that 19 year old woman in Saudi Arabia, I mean they put her in jail and she was beat with a whip all because she was raped by a group of men. Also look what they did to that British teacher over in Sudan, they put her in jail and were going to give her 40 lashes all for allowing her class to name the class teddy bear Muhammad. That is ridicules! It is clear that many Muslim nations hate anyone or anything that is not Muslim. During the first Gulf War, our troops could not wear any necklaces or anything that had a cross on it because they (Saudi Arabia) said it might offend a Muslim. I would have ordered our troops out there and then if I had been in charge and told them, well then you all deal with your problem. So while it does not say to use terrorism, it does say to attack the infidels and kill then or enslave them. So that's what they are doing. They are attacking any and all who do not follow Islam. I mean the Koran even says that it is OK to lie to a non-believer. So you see there are a whole lot of Muslims who take what the Koran says to heart. There are several really good books on this. Some of the better ones are written by Robert Spencer, who has researched Islam for years and years.

Because they are not Islamic. They do not carry out practices connected with the Five Pillars of the Faith. They are a perversion of Islam. The acts they commit are a Haraam (an offense against God). They even adhere to the doctrine of "Takfir" which says it's O.K., in conducting Jihad, for Muslim to kill Muslim. Al Queda and their ilk are the Ku Klux Klan of Islam. I don't condemn all Protestants for the Klan.
If you want to know where the insanity of the Salafist Jihadists who are these terrorists comes from, you might want to get a copy of the book mentioned in the source below. It's only 160 pages long. And it's finally in English. It is to Al Queda and the rest what "Mein Kampf" was to the Nazis.
BTW, I'm a Catholic.

That is a great question that even I (a muslim) am trying to get the answer to. The best answer that I can think of is that those terrorists are doing their bad deeds because they are mentaly-disable and emotionaly-frustrated. They have used the religion of Islam to justify their killings. But I promise you that they will never see heaven. They will all burn in hell. And I also challenge anyone to find a single bad thing in the muslim religion, if they can find it, then I will no longer be a muslim. Islam is a very peaceful and tolerant religion. And thanks for your question.

Since the Middle Ages, Islamic civilization has been stuck in neutral while western civilization has taken off. This is greatly resented. Instead of copying this success, many in the
Muslim world instead blame others for their self made problems and since power has shifted to the point that mass invasions by Islamic armies to forcibly convert people are no longer possible, their "priests" have misled the gullible to believe that killing of innocent people, as long as they are not of their particular Islamic religion, is a ticket to heaven. There's sure gonna be a lot of ticked off soles in hell!

Not all are Muslim, that's just a negative generalization. Timothy McVeigh, an American, caused the Oklahoma city bombing which is still the most deadliest incident of domestic terrorism in the U.S. There was 168 lives lost from that. Every country has it's own share of bad people.
