I like gifts. It shows that you put some thoughts into giving that person something. Anyone can just go and get a gift card.

Gift cards are the same as cash and show that you have no originality....
Would you give envelopes with cash in them as Christmas presents, or would the recipient think this is demeaning....
Same for gift cards...
Unless someone wants a specific gift card....
