For the common health problems (sprained ankle, cough or flu, birth control, urinary tract infection, flu shots and immunizations, cuts needing stitches, cholesterol levels, and pap smears, children-teen-adult-geriatric....etc.)
a GP general practitioner other wise known as
Family Dr or
PCP primary care provider
All three of these are the same MD medical Dr or DO Dr of osteopathy means they have a medical degree and license to practice medicine.

When it comes to pregnancy, many family Dr.s now have you go to an OB/GYN obstetrician / gynecologist specializing in female reproductive organs and pregnancy childbirth.

Your family Dr will know when to ask you to see a specialist, so let them be your guide, whether for heart, ear-nose-throat, oncology, or OB/GYN.

You will find that Doctors of other specialties are not willing to treat you for ailments outside of their specialty. Most of the people, most of the time would be seen by their Family Dr.

it would help if i knew your insurance. however for a pap smear, infertility bscailly anything in that area needs a gyn, you need a general for when your sick, need precritons filled like for inhalers,
also go through your book, and ask the receptioist questions like how old are they, gender, race, anything that you may want in a dr, so you can narrow your choices down
