(m + 12)/(9m) = 5/9

9(m + 12) = 5(9m) {cross multiply}

m + 12 = 5m {divide both sides by 9}

12 = 4m {subtract m from both sides}

3 = m {divide both sides by 4}

write it as
(m+12)/(9m) = (5/9)
multiply both sides by the (9m)
(m+12) = (5/9) * (9m)
m+12 = 5m
subtract m from both sides
12 = 6m
2 = m
