The United States Electoral College is a term used to describe the 538 President Electors who meet every 4 years to cast the electoral votes for President and Vice President of the United States; their votes represent the most important component of the presidential election. The Presidential Electors are elected by the popular vote on the day traditionally called election day. Presidential Electors meet in their respective state capitol buildings (or in the District of Columbia) on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December (per 3 U.S.C. 7), never as a national body. At the 51 meetings, held on the same day, the Electors cast the electoral votes. The electoral college, like the national convention, is an indirect element in the process of electing the president.

It helps keep the United States a democracy country. A true democracy country would be one where every citizen in the United States would have to vote on every thing that needs to be voted on. We would have to drive all the way down to Washington D.C and all meet at the same time so all our voices would be heard.

We hire people that goes down to Washington D.C and Electoral college committees to helps us by not have to be everywhere at once. We don't want to spend all of lives dealing with politics so we get someone else to do them for us.

So when we vote, do our votes count? Yeah, kind of. It is a difficult question to answer. I believe our votes influence the people that we elect or hire to show them what is on our minds at this particular moment and it gives them something to work for to make us happy. I think all our vote is, is marketing information. They collect the information on us and they look at the information and determine what the best thing for us all as a whole would be and they will also throw their two cents in as well.
