If you google the most recent articles on this subject, low carb diets are by far the most effective for PCOS sufferers. I speak from experience. I lost 125 pounds in one year this way and was able to come off all my meds (including metformin) and for the first time in my adult life, all my blood tests are normal and my menstrual cycle is normal again. All of the usual outward symptoms of PCOS are also lessened or completely gone too. That was three years ago and I've never looked back. Google "PCOS and low carb". The evidence is overwhelming...even my endocrinologist agrees :)
