1.29
2. F
3. It is a feeling brought on by real or imagined means, in which one feels extremely scared, or "horrified"
4. It depends. I have a rather .."sophisticated" taste in horror.. I prefer the psychological horror as opposed to the gorey.. (because I am never really affected by gore).. Some of them I watch because they "could" be real.. horrific things happen in every day life.. others are for the opposite reason.. they are completely unlike anything that would really happen.
5. Depends on the film.. but for the most part they are either trampy or vampy.. neither of which is generally done that well.
6.Psycho, yes.. Alien, yes, Saw 2, no.. (I hated the first.. and felt no real interest in the sequal.. all gore, no interest)
7.In Psycho.. I really didn't think anything about them... not the best portrayal, but not the worst.. Alien.. come on, Ripley kicked *** .. and not seeing Saw 2 I can't really say.
8.Well.. Over all?.. Julie Harris from the original haunting.. (she's not only known for horror.. but she's amazing.. watch the episode of Outer Limits called Lithia.. I think it was OL.. might have been Twilight Zone).
9.A:It's overrated... It's not bad.. just overrated.
B: I loved it.. I thought Sigourney Weaver was excellent, a smart yet tough female character who outlived her male counterparts.. The story was great.. (even throughout the sequals )
c: N/A
10. I don't think it matters how they are portrayed.. they are movies. Really I don't see Psycho or Saw 2 as having anything to do with gender.. Alien had a hard hitting, intelligent woman as a central character who was at NO point "the victim".. which was a refreshing change.. but also showed her as slighly unemotional and cold.. so, it is not "good or bad".
I think if you look deeply at Psycho, and look at the relationship with the mother.. you can see some issues with one female character.. but.. it's mostly overlooked.
11.I think that it was part of the status quo for awhile, but has been changing gradually through the years.. although, if you look at the original Haunting.. Julie Harris' character was never really a "victim" either.. she was getting what she truly desired.. and that was one of the older horror movies as well. There have even been several good ones with females as the "killers" whether directly or indirectly.. (such as The Hole or High Tension)'
12. I don't feel much of anything about those aspects.. I watch movies for the stories.. I don't really care that much about the gender of the characters as long as the story is there. I enjoy watching kick *** women characters because they are amazing.., but if the story makes more sense with a male hero.. just as well.. (although, as a lesbian, I'd prefer watching someone like sigourney weaver's Ripley Character any day..)

10.In which way do you think films like Psycho, Alien and Saw 2 represent women in a positive or negative way?

uh, I can't answer that b/c I don't really pay attention to stuff like that when I watch a horror film. I watch horror films b/c of the gore and suspene, but it's nice when they at least put a descent story line but the characters, in the story I never pay close attention to.

11.Most females in horror films are portrayed as victims. Do you think this is true? Explain your reasoning.

Yes, in most they are portrayed that way but I dont' think it's really a gender thing but more of a reflection of real life b/c we hear stories on the news about women who get kidnapped, beaten, raped, and killed quite often.

12.How does it make you feel when a woman is the victim and the heroine in a horror film?

I don't think about that too much but I guess it's interesting when a girl is the last one to make it out alive but she's not really heroine to me more like a survivor.
