After much thought/consideration, I have decided to stop hanging out with a neighbor who happened to be a friend for several years. After making new friends other than at my high school in college, I now feel that him and others were bad influences on me. I have no idea what to do when I comeback home from college. I really don't want to start talking to him when I first get back and make it appear that everything is fine and that we are gonna hang out over the break. I know how to deal with phonecalls and that stuff but not this, what should I do?

When I was in a situation like that, I just told the person the cold, hard truth. It was tough, and akward for both of us, but he took it well.

You don't have to cut him off.
Use your answering machine to screen calls and make yourself scarce when you visit home..

If it really comes to it, just tell him that you already have plans and do not have time to hang out with him this weekend.

It is good that you are hanging out with people who are better influences for you and that you know the difference. Maybe the kid next door will mature and do the same.
