In the Bible, the expression of not being presumptuousness is expressed this way by King David , who made some serious mistakes:

(Psalm 19:12-13) “. . .Mistakes—who can discern? From concealed sins pronounce me innocent. 13 Also from presumptuous acts hold your servant back; Do not let them dominate me. In that case I shall be complete, And I shall have remained innocent from much transgression. . .”

--So mistakes can be of an innocent nature(because of not thinking clearly or being overly excited about something) , where as "concealed sins" are those we are aware of and can really get us in deep trouble, because we might have been wanting to committ them for a long time!

There is a law that says that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. What it means is that even though you did not know that it was against the law, you will still be punished for breaking that law.
