Cleaning up in the back room of a bakery. I was covered with wet flour caked on my pants and shoes. My fingers were raw from scrubbing. Still gags me when I think about it

I've had a few I couldn't stand. It wasn't so much the job but the jerks I was forced to work under and with. And to all of you at Mopac RR, you can still KMA. The job was keypunching-absolutely boring but the management was terrible and made a horrible job intolerable. It is still a wonder to me just how some people get promoted and those that get stuck in middle management, that have risen to the height of their abilities, are the worst. I recently went back to college and took a Management course. The professor asked the class just why they wanted to get into management and the answer was because they wanted to boss people around. Oh joy, another classroom full of idiots that have no business dealing with people on any level. The job did do one thing for me. It made me want to work for myself. Take the chances and make the profit and definitely be the boss.

anything that involves repetitive movement...
like cashier or a made-to-order food attendant when the order or the line of people never seemed to end. Then you add all those annoying beeping sounds that never stop...and never cease to remind you that you don't get a break for sanity or fresh air. Sorry...I really hate these kind of jobs. Organizational psychology should work to improve these working conditions. They are inherently negative and send the message that you can never work hard enough or fast enough. Your best isn't good enough. That's when you realize you have been hired to assume the responsibility of robot.
When I started having half awake, half asleep dream states involving these types of work, I knew I had to leave those kind of jobs. Scary, huh?

Around 1965, a summer job pasting felt samples -- like paint chips, if you can picture it --into their little circles on a company brochure. It was better than what I got to do during slow times, though -- somebody had to cut the felt :-( Squares or rectangles might have been okay, but circles were the devil.
And don't even ask the wage, you would not believe it. lol.

Working at the Staples Distribution Warehouse, lifting boxes for 12 hours a day, 3 days a week. My back tightened up like Dennis Kucinich's sphincter when he was asked about his documented UFO sighting.

Working in a sandwich shop. I don't work with the public well, but I was desperate for a job. Not that desperate, I could only stand it for 2 days.

Oh, that's easy. In high school I worked at Brothers Pizza Galley run by two idiot brothers. One was Satan and the other was a bit dimwitted. They would try to cheat you out of money, paid the girls less than the boys, yelled, pushed and even verbally abused us. We all hated them.
