I did, actually. I was supposed to be at one person's viewing, stood in a long line, heard people talking about him, I thought gee I didn't know that about him. When I got up to the casket it was not who I thought it would be and thought he couldn't have changed that much, but I figured I was there for a reason, yes-I paid last respects to a total stranger, then when I was leaving I asked the funeral home director where the "other" funeral home was, turns out I was around the corner from the one I should have been to, see there were 2 homes with the same name, but owned by the same people. So that day I went to 2 viewings. The stranger's and the one I knew. =)

No where would be the need to intrude on others in mourning. It's hard enough to attend family or loved ones funerals as it is.

Absolutely...I've done so on many occasions, Pub. My reason for doing so was primarily to support another person during his or her grieving period.
