Sometimes it takes some luck to bring you to fate. Other times fate brings you to a lucky moment.

I'll answer by telling a true tale:

My wife of 10 years (married April, '98) and I were in the same room, at an event/party three times, and twice even spoke to each other during an 8 year period before we actually "met" (i.e.: started dating) 13 years ago (1995).

From 1988-1995, we lived in different cities, were seeing other people and never "got to know each other" on these 3 occasions we met (2 weddings and a car accident... no, I'm not kidding...)

So, starting over 20 years ago, fate, luck, God, "whatever" was giving us chances to "hook up".

Well, as you can see from the timeline above, we didn't "get it right" the first 3 times.

Both of us went through failed relationships, and ended up living in the same city and finally meeting and dating 13 years ago.

Sometimes, things are just MADE to happen, despite all of our incompetencies or poor choices.

Sometimes, and we can ALL think of an example of these...:-) the opposite occurs despite our strongest efforts.

The name you put on it can be your choice: luck/fate/"doomed"/"gifted"/"whatever". It all depends upon your perspective.

What's yours?

Chaz

well i am very unlucky, but am "Catholic" not a good one but, anyway i think karma is most of the is true, for the person who does bad things often screws themselves over, by some hidden guilt, not by any divine force. but luck is everything, luck is who and where you are, what if someone across the street had you, then everything would be different, literally everything. but I'm not very Greek, meaning i do not truly believe in a predetermined fate, but there might be who knows. i think it is our brain's subconscious decisions are that we consider karma. maybe luck is fate and maybe fate is luck, there is know way to tell. but luck does play into every aspect of the universe, hell by luck I'm here typing on this laptop, not some atoms on a descelent planet millions of Au's away

Karma and luck are not defined as the same things. One implies getting what is deserved, while the other implies an arbitrary result. As for fate, I usually only hear that word when the outcome is negative. You hear of folks having good or bad luck, but you never hear of anyone having a good fate.

Does this help you at all?

luck and fate are not same in meaning. As luck is a chance and it can be changed with the struggle while Fate is a type of luck viz permanant.solid.and only three matters can be included in fate,1.Date of Birth,Death, marrige.remaining all others in Luck that you can change by hard work, pray etc

Luck and fate are not the same. Luck favors those who are prepared. Fate comes to those who let their lives be carried wherever the wind may take them.

fate - the universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed; the decreed cause of events; time

luck - good fortune; advantage or success, considered as the result of chance

fate = is simply "counting on it"
luck = is the other way around.. "come what may"

i think they are not the same.

I believe in neither luck nor fate. We each shape our own futures with our own own actions.

If I did believe in them, however, fate is synonymous with destiny. It is an outcome that is predestined regardless of ones actions - this is not necessarily lucky, as a persons fate may be to die penniless and homeless.

Not with me girlfriend. Its all about Jesus the living and awesome Redeemer for all mankind. Luck is living under Christ Kingdom and fate is Forever and total existence in him. FAITH is the component that keeps me connected to him and growing each and everyday. As I read the bible my faith soars and I learn something each day. How exciting!
MERRY CHRISTmas!

Karma... now there's something we can all believe in!
Luck...Fate...I don't believe in either one! But karma, I create that! By my own actions. That I can believe in.
