Here is some simple questions, me and my girlfriend (who comes from there) are going to move to Quebec soon :) and I need some info. And yes, some of these questions will be silly, but do not be harsh on it :(

1. What music is popular in Quebec?
2. Are the quebecers unfriendly or friendly?
3. Rude or no?
4. Are they religious?
5. Is it a hard place to make new friends?
6. What's the difference between Quebec French and French in other countries?

And if you have any other information or tips for me, please tell me :)

Thank you!

,Welcome to Québec or Montreal ,I lived in Québec city for a short while its a beautiful city with great things to see and the architecture is fabulous Québec city is mostly french speaking and they like it like that wich is ok with me at first i found it hard to make friends they where sort of cold they stuck to there own little click , it took time to feel at ease with them and finaly when i started making more and more friends i ended up moving , montreal is a great city also if your from the usa well we really have the same taste in music as you do down there . there is a variety of styles . all in all what i want to say is where ever you end up montreal or québec its like any other place it just takes time to adjust do yourself a big favor learn french it will be easyer on you.to get along with most people,if you move to sherbrooke québec its more bilingual and a nice town not as much to see and do as in montreal or québec well good luck with your move and take care sincerely lorie

1. much of the dame music as elsewhere, plus local Quebec variations. Based on Quebec radio, there is somewhat more emphasis on Disco than in the rest of North America, but you'll find everything from Hip-Hop to folk to rock to Motown as well, including French variantts thereof (French Motown is rather amusing and interesting).
2. Very friendly, generally. But it helps to know at least a little bit of French.
3. Not at all, in my experience.
4. Older people, sometimes. But generally not.
5. If you're outgoing, it shouldn't be. If you don't know that much French, though, you're better off in Montreal than outside it.
6. In some ways, it's closer to 18th century northern French dialects that are no longer used in France. It isn't as easy for me to hear, to understand, but my French is limited as it is. Speaking French French, you will be understood, and the effort will be very appreciated - Quebecois may joke about Parisian French speakers as snooty, but they're happy to see any Anglophones attempt French at all that you'll be well recieved. I listen to Quebec radio stations to try to improve my understanding, and it's helped.

It really is La Belle Province. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
