I don't actually
i'm still in the whole high school thing of really finding who i am so that i can be comfortable being myself
I think identity is so important to a person because it is who you are and where you came from, what ur influences are what makes you unique from every other human being
i still need some living to do to find all that out. i dunno maybe it will take years :) and one day when i do find who i really am i will be extremely happy!!

I think you've answered your own question, at least partly.
Indentity revolves around your personality, knowing who you are, and other things in the background like genetic traits from your parents who in turn inhereted those from their parents and so on...
I would think this comes under personality or disposition, but identity can also be how you deal with other people. Humans are the only species on earth with an inherent ability for complex language and communication in all its forms.
I had an interesting experience recently. A young woman of 21 or so banged on our door at about 1:30am in distress, saying "please help me, please help me, my boyfriend has chased me up the road and he has a knife. He said he's going to kill me."
Was it a set up? Was she mentally ill? We'd never seen her before or heard about her, and we live in a very small rural town. Myself and my father immediately took her in, my father looked after her (he took a psychology degree) and I took a look outside for anyone with my torch and a walking cane, just in case, then went inside and called the local police station.
How would you react and think "on your feet" with no knowledge of what was going to happen? If you can answer that question honestly, you have a good knowledge of your identity, in my view.
Personality, dealing with other people, knowing genetic traits in the family, why certain things happen to you (if they are not pure chance) and how you deal with those, knowing exactly who you are - what do you want out of life? Are you prepared to do whatever it takes to get what you want? A tough slog at study to get into a good university? Moving away to another state or country if that's necessary for the job you really want? What kind of people do you enjoy the company of? What things please you, annoy/displease you, make you angry?
Just off the top of my head, that's what I think identity is, and if you know these things, then you know your identity.
As for the second part of your question, do I feel I know who I am? Who am I? Most certainly. I've been through a lot in my life and have experienced more things, good and bad (long story) than most people will in their entire lifetimes. And I'm 27 years old.

Oh, yeah, I know who I am. That is my identity; the Govenment should protect a person's identity, not reveal it to crooks.
