What is going on with the youth in America? Is heartless internal strife and slaughter the new "cool" thing? The Nebraska shooter left a note on the crime scene saying, "Now I'll be famous".
Where are America's schools or parents going wrong? Bush is harboring a larger war within the US than the imagined ones he fights elsewhere.

Poopsie makes a good point about video games (although I am an avid gamer myself).
Joseph, sorry man, but this cannot "happen anywhere" or anytime as you put it. If I broke up with my girl friend and lost my job, I would NOT start shooting people, mate.

Thanks for your reponse, quick sand but I am not saying that all young people in the US are messed up. I am pointing at the trend: Virginia Tech etc.

I am not blaming Bush... I am saying that the administration has big issues at home, one of which is school/public shootings.

as much as I don't like bush, no matter who was in office, it may still have happened, it's tragic!! I can't even imagine loosing one of my children to a crazed gun attack. I think it's the video game industry, I just saw in the new's the other night, that they want to ban games that are way too violent, for youngsters. children are so vulnerable, and all this horrible video game, shooting, car wrecks gang stuff, that's pounded into their head's, they grow up thinking it's okay, they become invincible, their not able to be children, because the violence is introduced way to early in life. My heart goes out to all the families who lost family, its so sad. Parent's need to ban these video games, and watch what their children are doing behind closed door's, good grief look at the columbine shooting, those parent's of those two boy's had no idea what their children where planning, right in their own home's, where were the parents????? they had stuff hid in their house and garage, and no body know what was up!!!!! tragic. and I won't even get into the public school system, it needs a big clean up, I was glad I was able to send my children to a private school, and my children are not perfect in any way, but they had a good christian school life, and I think it made a big difference, God Bless all the families, May God give them strength to get thru these troubling time's AMEN!!

He was 19, not 20. I live in Omaha, Nebraska and while I must admit to having felt safe in the past this has definitely shook me up a little. That's the mall I frequent and it's blocks from my son's school. I would not go crazy and kill people if I'd lost my job, my parents had kicked me out and my girlfriend broke up with me. All of those things had happened to this young man and he didn't seek the medical help he needed to deal with it. It's not cool to kill people just be noticed. Now we're on the map for having some crazy kid go nuts in a mall and kill innocent people. His parents kicked him out, I don't know why, but I don't feel they did anything wrong. He needed to get help, he was not a kid, 19 is an adult. Adults don't act like that. School's aren't causing it either. Society in general is causing this by desensitizing our youth at an early age. By allowing our kids to watch and participate in violent activities, tv shows, movies, games etc we give them access to what should be an imaginary world. Some can't differentiate between the two and this is where we fail. God be with the families of the victims and the wounded.

It is true this individual was young and obviously disturbed. But that isn't all the youth in America...Most of them know right from wrong, that cartoons and video games aren't real. This is one person out of millions, so to classify All of Americas youth as gun wielding people isn't a fair assumption.....
Yes there is a problem with Violence as a whole. But the age group is probably as young as 10 to 80 plus years old with the gang violence...This was a mentally and emotionally troubled person. He may have come from a very good home, good parents. But some kids just don't click with the rest of society, and "snap", but there has to be some undiagnosed issues he was having all along to take it as far as he did....
Some people can handle life, and some can't, he was one of those who couldn't...Unfortunately, people lost their lives because of it that's the really sad part......Famous? I wouldn't print his name if you paid me!

i'm not necessarlity a fan of bush myself, but to blame him personally for this tragedy is just asinine.

if you're going to place the blame on someone other than the shooter, you can start with the mainstream media.

when they constantly turn sick lunatics into celebrities, they're inviting things like this to happen. this kid just wanted some attention and he was going to get it even at the cost of his own life. he knew he'd be mentioned on every news channel and everyone would know his name.

so what do we expect?

12 hours
12 hours to blame Bush.
Hey how about the media. The shooter said him self he wanted to be famous. His face should be a blank and his name unknown. Just called the dirt bag at best.

this is concern-free to simplify this yet American young infants has slowly been slipping right into a state of deterioration. fortuitously no longer all, yet many have little understand for his or her friends, relatives and usa. they have little concern of punishment from the regulation and the prospect to have their jiffy interior the spotlight is overpowering. I could say that in the time of many different worldwide places, if a young infants gets out of line, Dad or a cop places him right this moment. in the event that they do a heinous crime, they pay with their existence. I concern American society has ruined its ultimate source. this is young infants.

I am not trying to blame it on the media,

But for the last month or so, the media has been saying that the malls are on alert for terrorist.

I am so sorry regardless that this has happened.

The Guy (who was 20) was in the middle of a bad losing streak... He had lost his girlfriend recently, lost his job at McDonald's this morning- & was having alot of other personal problems- to boot. I guess he just "lost it..." It's something that can happen anywhere- any time... :(

Are you sure this was a kid? I agree that our youth is definitely disturbed, but they're growing up into adults now...
