Triangle: Let s be the shortest side, s+6 the medium side, and s+13 the longest side. Put these all on the left side, and 82 on the right. Add up like terms, and solve for s.

Rectangle: Let w = width, w+11 the length. P = 2(l+w), substitute for the length, add, multiply, and solve for x.

1) Let "s" be the shortest side, since the other sides are given in terms of this. This means the longest side is s + 13, and the medium side is s + 6. The perimeter is the sum of all the sides, so s + (s+13) + (s+6) = 82. Solve this equation for s, and use "s" to write s, s+13, and s+6.

2) Use a similar approach here. Remember that opposite sides of a rectangle are the same length, and add up all four sides.

a = shortest side
b = medium
c = longest

a + b + c = 82
c= 13 + a (longest is 13 more than shortest)
b= 6 + a (medium is 6 more than shortest)
substitute both c and b into the top equation:
a + (6 + a) + (13 + a) = 82 -solve for a
a = 21
then plug a into the other two equations
b = 6 + (21) = 27
c = 13 + (21) = 34

your answers are:
shortest side: a=21
medium: b=27
longest: c=34

Problem 2:
follow the same procedure you did in the previous equation...

your not just putting your homwork problems on here so other ppl can do them for you & you can copy them are you? lol, its all good

let x = shortest side
(x+13) + (x+6) + x = 82
3x + 19 = 82
3x = 63
x = 21 cm
x + 6 = 27 cm
x + 13 = 24 cm

L = 11 + w
2L + 2w = 98
substitute 11 + w for L in the second equation
2(11 + w) + 2w = 98
22 + 4w = 98
4w = 120
w = 30 in
L = 41 in
