Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
If you take guns away, then you need to take away all knives, baseball bats, sharp #2 pencils, cars... need I go on?

Some states like here in FLa have an act that if somebody is harmful to others or themselves you can have them arrested and confined until the judge decicides their fate. Sooooo We don't hear of the old lady with 35 dogs and 19 cats or we do not see the eccentric walking around in a parker when it is 95 degrees outside we can BAKER act them. I do not believe a retailer can sell a mental paitent a gun. The Virginia tech shooter could not have succeeded here in sunny Fla. We have all the other weirdo's though some of them we call northerners.

Guns don't kill people - people kill people. This is what happens when you remove God from society - or atleast attempt to. This is what happens when you break up the nuclear family. This is what happens when you write kids off. This is what the values of our society leads to. It has nothing to do with guns. Look at the murder statistics 100 years ago. Everyone had guns then and yet there were less than 250 murders in the ENTIRE COUNTRY in the year 1907. Go figure. What is so different today? Well, all of those things I listed above.

There are over 100 Federal laws dealing with gun control. And this latest incident involved a mentally disturbed young man with a high-powered rifle. Under Federal law he is prohibited from owning such a weapon. Someone got him that weapon. That person needs to got to prison for being an accessory to murder. Most of the gangland murders in our inner city areas are committed by individuals who, by law, are prohibited from owning such weapons. Laws are no damned good if no one in enforcing them.

The only way we're ever going to get gun control in this country is if everyone joins the NRA. If everyone (who's 18 and older) was a card-carrying (and possibly gun-toting) member, things would be different. If everyone was a member these southern rednecks would be very scared. They know they have an @ss-whooping coming to them. They'd be like "see, Jose's a member, Mohammad is a member, Marcus is a member, even the queer eye guys have guns, WE NEED GUN CONTROL!!!" That's the only way gun control would ever happen.

The day our guns are taken away, is the day the criminals (and the government) have all the power. This unfortunate killer wanted to be a 'hero' , no doubt due the TV news who like to go on and on and on about what other sick individuals do. Bad upbringing, moral decay in the family, 'It's all about me" generation, and so much more. Simply taking guns away will not stop shootings...too bad someone in the mall wasn't armed...could have taken 'out' the shooter before he caused so much pain.

Perhaps what we should do is pass laws making it illegal for students to take guns to school or for people to carry guns at all without permits. This should solve the problem - unless you believe gun laws don't work and will only be followed by the law abiding.
People don't commit murders because they own firearms and those committed to such acts will find a way with or without guns or gun laws.

a gun is just a tool.
the real problem is our decadent culture. i agree with what some people are saying.
when you remove God from our culture, morality and the value of human life goes with Him. when you break apart the family and outlaw parental authority, kids become out of control. when hollywood, tv, and music glamorize murder and violence and the mainstream media makes celebrities out of these criminals, they're inviting things like this to happen.
ever hear the phrase "you reap what you sow"?
people had guns when i was a kid and had fewer gun restriction laws too and you never heard of things like this happening back then.
in this violent screwed up world we're living in, you'd have to be a fool to want to take people's guns away.

There already is already enough serious debate about victim disarmament, or "gun control". You just don't like the consensus being reached by society as a whole.
More people die each year to vehicle accidents than violent/criminal shooting sprees, do we ban automobiles?
It would be just as easy to blame the educational and mental health systems for not dealing with this individual earlier.

Do you know that just because drugs are illegal that they still exist?
Do you know that just because rape is illegal that it still happens?
So, do you think that because guns would become "illegal" (or more restrictions would be put on them), that people wouldn't be killed by them?
Why do you people blame the tool/weapon for the killing? While we're at it, why don't we do away with cars, martial art classes, dogs, pens and pencils, cooking utilities, etc.?
For the record, most homicides are not done with a gun. Collectively, they are mostly committed with household items or blunt objects. People need to stop and just take the responsibility and consequences for their actions.

what we all have to realize is that we can never stop people having guns. If we take the guns there will be underground gun selling. and if we get rid of that...they will find some other way to hurt weather it be bombs or knives or even wreckless driving...only GOD can prevent these horrible things from happening and if it does happen than it was those peoples time. They are in a better place now. RIP
