I was pregnant in August and lost the baby at 9 weeks. Then, on October 4, just 2 months ago, I had my tubes tied and the surgery went well. I had one period after in mid November. Then, the other night my husband pointed out to me that during forplay with my breast he noticed a strange taste. When I checked I found that I could easily squeeze a drop of white fluid from my nipple. Anyone know why this could be? My husband says he thought he noticed it about 3 weeks ago too.

Also, I normally have a 22 day cycle, so my period is now a few days late. I am not on any meds except the antidepressant I have taken forever. And I have a 4 and 2 year old, but my milk from them has been dry for close to two years.

I had this discharge several years ago, and I went to my doctor. I ended up having an MRI, and they found a tumor on my pituitary gland. The pituitary gland, when it isn't working properly, can cause breast discharge. Other things can cause it too, like infection or cancer. In any case, this is not normal and you need to see a doctor.

You shouldn't. It's probably not breastmilk. Call your doctor and get an appointment asap. It could be a sign of an infection. Don't panic or stress over it, but don't ignore it either. You don't want it to turn into a problem.

Of course, our bodies do strange things, especially after a big change like tubal ligation. So it is possible that it's breastmilk. But more likely it's another type of discharge.

Either way, don't delay calling the doctor. Ask if breast discharge is a side effect of the procedure or any meds they have you on. And if not, get an appointment to be seen as quicly as possible.

my daughter is 15 months old and i only breastfed for 3 weeks - it had never dried up completely - even after baby #1 who is now 5... i dunno why it happens but maybe it is because our breasts have changed and now have those glands permanently..
