We need to take a good hard look at what our culture is perpetuating. There is no quick answer to that. I don't know if there's any answer to that. I do know that other places like Britain, Canada, France and others have not seen incidences of this magnitude. So what is it about our society that allows the youth to do these types of things?

There are a lot of reasons for these types of shootings. One part of it is the easy availability of semi-automatic weapons; which i don't think should be legal; cause let's face it who is using a semi-automatic weapon to hunt rabbits and deer? Another factor is that many kids today feel isolated and alone, the popularity of the internet has made it harder for kids to learn to properly socailize and easier to find information on weapons, guns, bombs and sites that will give them terrible ideas. Another factor, parents don't feel the need to communicate with or invest time in their kids so kids feel further isolated. Another issue, schools still aren't sure how to handel bullying or teasing; if a kid does tell and the perpurtartor of teasing is punished the victim is labeled "a rat" and oftentimes teachers or administators think the victim is "too sensitve" and tells them to "ignore" the teasing. Also, the rise in halceanijenic drugs make it easier for kids to take drugs and go into emotional meltdowns.

There are a lot of reasons, and sadly, i do believe that school shootings, mall shootings etc will continue until serious steps are taken by both the government and society as a whole to correct some of these issues.

I think certain guns (mostly i'm talking about semi-automatic weapons, not handguns or hunting rifles) need to be banned---or at the very least a more effective system needs to be put in place for who can buy guns... Parents need to take more responsobility and pay more attention to their kids and schools need to open their eyes and take a hard line of bullies and violence; even non-verbal violence can lead to a bigger issue down the line.

Also we need to as a society stop blaming the victims of teasing. and need to realize like other posters have said this is not a "one size fits all" problem and many issues contribute to this problem. We need to stop being so paranoid and stop attacking people who are different or trying to psycho-anaylze kids that write violent stories or play video games or kids who wear black or aren't popular...

Times have changed . people used to finish high school, get a job ,support themself and have a life. Now you need college to have anything. Many do not have the money or ability to succeed. Our society doesn"t allow for this. The average person will do the best they can . Some will flip out . Our government must enable the average american to survive. And have a chance in life.Otherwise there will be problems.

Why do you assume that it has to do with anger? It could have had to do with all kinds of emotions and probably just had to do with mental illness, plain and simple. It's not a "one size fits all" sort of problem when it comes to trying to solve it.

And yes, there will definitely be another mass shooter... many more.

i think its their influences
i mean kids these days are not as peachy keen about things
and they aren't the most innocent which i find really sad
Kids should have the freedom to not know what the f word is for once.. but when people who are older are doing things then i guess we go to monkey see monkey do mode
.. no more shootings! and on with the good influences!

The motivation for causing school shootings has to do with being bullied or difficult family life. Of course there will be multitudes of shootings in the future but I feel that we, as individuals, should do our part in treating each other fairly and with care....in other words...be nice! :]

Obviously they turn to satan instead of Godly standards to solve their frustrations.

It is a sign of the times. Armageddon is right around the corner. I'd suggest everyone start turning to "the truth" instead of lies, or what is violent. The latter two get you negative results always.
