Some people are cut out for the pressure of college and some aren't. If people are taught to appreciate what they have why do they have to try and do what others are just because it might improve the quality of your life. You can get to a good place in life without college right?

College never means being happy in a career. Do what you enjoy. If it means some higher education then do it. If being the best Baker in the world is what you want , you may need trade school or a truck driver go to CDL training. When I was young somehow a fireman or cowboy did not seem to require college. Sitting behind a desk sure does for some reason.

Of course you can and you're right not everyone is cut out for the pressure of University. Just don't sell yourself short, there are lots of variations on college and alternatives. There's two year college where you can complete a technical program that ranges from computer careers to child care. There are trade schools where you can learn a slew of careers like fashion design, carpentry, ect. Apprenticeships. (investigate businesses in your area) There's at home courses that you complete at your own pace to learn computer repair, medical billing and the like.
I don't know what area you're in and every college has a different set of programs ( and no this isn't a school I attended though I did start out at a community college and LOVED it!) go here to see an idea of the programs offered. http://www.nacc.edu/study/majors.htm

Don't think you have to fit the University mold to live a happy, productive life.
Be true to you.

Caitlin proposes a socialist agenda it would appear. College was great, but I just wish I had waited a few years before going. It opened doors for me that otherwise would have been shut. I partied too hard and didn't study enough. I went because I was "supposed" to go instead of valueing what I had. I still regret that to this day... but.. that was a long time ago.

Yes, you can get to a good place in life without a college. It is just getting harder and harder these days to do. I think college should be a choice but should also be free. People should not have to pay for college since they are paying for so much else. College's can cost people there first couple of years of money they recieve for working.

You may also want to consider a trade school. that is what I did. It was a shorter time investment, and I make decent money at what I do. I waited til I was 26 to go though, when I was good and ready to make enough money to support myself.
