Silversword Plant (Argyroxiphium sandwicense macrocephalum) - This plant is only found on the island of Maui in Haleakalā National Park at an elevation of 2,100 to 3,000 m on the Haleakalā summit depression. It's the monocarpic plant goes to seed and dies.

A cactus. The cactus takes many years to grow and it doesn't grow very fast in the wild. NOTE---In the wild, it doesn't get as much water as if it was in someones front yard. Of course they water it often so it grows bigger, faster.

there are many that only bloom once a year depending on variety..take the cactus flower..the poinsettia..and others that i can not name right now..
