Is it because Willard is a Mormon name?

How can we elect someone for President who doesn't use his real first name?

What is he trying to hide?

Mike, Mine is much worse. Earl. LOL.

I agree with you by the way. I have been seeing the number of questions claiming that Obama is hiding his middle name. He is not my candidate but that doesn't mean I appreciate people saying racist things like that.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

I'm sorry but some of the answers are beyond dumb.

Did you see the part of the question where I said that I was asking the question to illustrate how stupid it was to be discussing a candidate's religion, name or shoe size.

We should be worrying about the candidate's platforms.

Well, my grandfather and great grandfather were named Willard and neither of them were Mormon. I think it is a really old fashioned name and if I had it, I would probably use my middle name. Abraham Lincoln almost never signed his first name, he signed A. Lincoln.
And if you are going to insist on propriety, then everyone should be required to use all the names that their parents gave them, no initials, like a soap opera or romance novels: George Herbert Walker Bush
What's your middle name?

Please name your source that Willard is a Mormon name. The man is talented and moral, which puts him ahead of most of the other candidates. Seems like a better thing to judge him on than if he uses his first or middle name, yes?

Why do you even care? If you dislike Romney, go after him on the issues.

I'm so tired of "Romney's a Mormon, Barack is a Muslim, Hillary's a lesbian, Ron Paul is a nut case."

Well, that last one is true.

Vote for Rudy!

Many people go by their middle names. It is legal unless it is used for fraudulent purposes. He was called Mitt by his parents. Since it is a given name it is not an alias. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Maybe he doesn't like his first name. Millions of Americans go by their middle names, no big deal.
You're judging him just because you don't agree with his religion?

1) because Willard
a) is the rat in the movie Ben
b) was the weatherman on one of those goofy morning shows on national TV.
c) Sounds too much like Millard (Fillmore)

2) I don't think it is.

3a) Because, like J. Danforth (little Danny) Quayle, he is an elitist who thinks himself better than those of us who do not use our second name.
b)Because we are too smart to elect another actor as president?

4) Any number of skeletons residing in his [mud] closet.

He's been called Mit since he was a little kid. Come on... he didn't just think that up for the campaign. Get real!

I suppose Mitt is his childhood nickname. I don't blame him for rejecting Willard...he was the rat guy!
