For me, it has always been personality. I grew up learning that you can be the most gorgeous person in the world but if you are snobby and conceited and rude then it makes you an ugly person. Just curious as to what other people think on this issue. We have a society that is so hung up on looks and often won't give someone a second look if they find something "wrong" with that person when that flaw is what makes that person unique and sets them apart from others. I won a pageant a few weeks back and learned that there are two different organizations. The Miss USA organization which is based more on looks and the Miss America Organization which is based on personality and what you acheive and gives scholarships - I always wanted to be in pageants and thought it was wonderful to be in one that wasn't based so much on outside beauty but inside. I think we all should look at inside beauty more... what about you?

well after being married to 3 different women its both. personality is great but if shes ugly to look at then we have a problem. if she is drop dead gorgeous, but has the personality of a junk yard dog we have another problem. to be an acceptable mate you need both things in your eyes only, what others think should not be any part of the equation

Ok, suppose you see some burnt faced guy who is really nice? Then he's all hairy in his back, real fat, black albino? Still attracted to that wonderful personality that he has? Don't think so.

Im a guy, I like women. If a woman looks good, I go for her. If her personality sucks, I eject. If her personality is bearable and she is horny, I won't mind, but I won't be serious about it. If she's the best thing that's ever happened to me good, then I'm in trouble. I, as many guys, feel vulnerable in situations of love, yet I'm sure that when I go old, I'll realize it's the most beautiful thing we have.

Sure personality counts, no guy wants some super-nerdy, or real innocent girl (k, some do), but I'd rather have someone at level with me, who can flirt yet use her brain. That would be the ideal woman for me, as long as she can still arouse me physically as well. Sex is very important in relationships. There's no way around that.

I would be more attracted to people with a good personality but people with good looks are a bonus too. It doesn't matter that much, since the faces will change as we grow older.

Personality, of course. Looks can be deceiving. It's better to have a partner who looks like a monster, than having the most gorgeous person who acts like a monster.. ;-)

The most beautiful people begin to look ugly -- to actually look more ugly -- if you get to know them and they have terrible personalities. The ugliest people begin to look good if you get to know them and they are very cool. It takes time in both cases. If you're picking someone to be with, go with personality. In time, their looks will grow on you.

Alas, a persons looks are what generally gets your attention but their personality is what makes you want to stick around. If a person is not gorgeous but is able to somehow get your attention, the personality is the deciding factor.

Well, I would say that looks and personality do attract people. I am attracted more to personality and then looks. Looks do not matter that much to me as personality and love.

i think a combination of things. personality is close to first. Looks is always a good plus though =] ..i don't think it should be completely based on looks though because looks fade away in time.

i admit at first looks but if the woman turns out to be a ___ i'd loose interest. Also if happened to start talking to an unattractive woman who was nice smart etc that would be cool

I think that I am attracted by their lies. WHatever they say about themselves, or their lives, all their lies that they tell to impress me to go out with them on a date, that is what I am attracted to. Although sometimes, I love a hot stud too.
