I have seen the Mobile EP products that claim they can last up to 5,000, 7,000, and even 15,000 miles. Is it really recommended to wait that long for an oil change, even if Mobil says its okay. I know Mobil is a good company makes high-quality oils, but I doubt that these products can last that long without an oil change at a sooner interval.

The engines today operate with closer tolerances and the metal alloys last longer without breaking down. Add to that the better quality motor oils will give you longer lubricating life. As an engine starts to wear, more contaminants get by the pistons into the crankcase and contaminate the oil. As long as the engine is still in good shape, the oil should retain its lubricating qualities for 7500 miles. That is of course with a good filter. I would be afraid to push conventional motor oil any more than that. Synthetic oil will last longer because the heat doesn't break down the oil as it does with conventional oil. Synthetic blends are only a little better than conventional oils because they still contain petroleum oil that will break down.
Whatever kind of oil you choose, the filter is just as important. You can research and find the absolute best oil in the world and pour it in your engine and install a $1.00 filter from Wal Mart and drive 7,000 miles, you may as well just drive on to the garage. If the filter doesn't clean the impurities from the oil, the best oil in the universe can't lubricate with all that junk floating in it.
I use synthetic oil and run 15,000 miles and use a Wix filter.

i've got not got any adventure with Honda's, nor am I an authority on oil, however the final element you're able to do is carry on with the manufacturers reported maintenance schedule and reported viscosity. They pay clever human beings a great type of money to determine those issues out so pay attention to, and carry on with their training. do not purely think of with regards to the oil. shop up with the maintenance on all the automobiles subsystems (struts, gasoline clear out, spark plugs, means guidance fluid and lube, take carry of or at fluid, brake placed on and fluid, etc). Get a Hayes handbook for the motor vehicle, it could have each and every of the maintenance coated up for you. in case you want to be sure that that's bulletproof for 200k, shop up with scheduled maintenance and infant it, heat up on chilly mornings and funky it down for a jiffy till now you close up it off when you run it confusing. I even have abused a great type of automobiles in my 10 years of utilising and that i at the instant own a ninety seven finished length Chevy truck with a v-6 and 130k and it runs like new because of the fact I even have saved up with the maintenance. remember that s**t takes place, alternators and desktops die, yet those are undemanding (yet nevertheless costly) fixes, seized engines and slipping transmissions at the instant are not. desire this facilitates.

I will never keep oil in my cars for more then 3,000 mile intervals I dont care if its my favorite oil company that says it can be done.It just doesnt sound right to let oil stay in your car for 7 or 15 thousand miles even if you are changing the filter.
Not to mention the manufacturing warranty getting voided by using high mileage oil in most cars.

Most new cars can go 5-7K between oil changes in regular service without any problems, 15K ? a bit harder to believe.
