Male mammals who help in raising their youngs are usually those who PAIR BONDS. Wolves and lions for example form male and female pair bonding and live together.Males are then involved with the care of their offsprings. Aside from protecting their mates, males also protect the newborn and help in finding food for the young after they are weaned.

Male monkeys to some extent show a nurturing, protective and caring behavior towards their youngs. For example male Baboons may play, groom, and provide food to the young. Male Marmoset and Night Monkey may carry their youngs. Male gibbons are also involved in care of their youngs.

Among mammals carnivores, rodents and primates have parental care. The California mouse and the Djungarian hamster are examples.
