Stress, illness or medication can affect your girlfriend's hormones which can made her period late.
But if, you're using the withdrawal method practicing safe sex, it isn't fool proof. Your girlfriend can still get pregnant.
I would get on OTC pregnancy test to be sure.

She could be stressed. This can case a delayed period.
