When I was in grade school, a neighbor girl used to come over and play. She told me her name was Renee but I heard, "Grenade" so for the longest time I called her Grenade. I'll never forget (thinking back) to my mom trying to keep from laughing as she asked, "Are you sure her name isn't RENEE?" I said, "No, it's Grenade, she told me."

Sisters boyfriend was named Jade, their friend called him "Jay" for a long time before he finally saw Jade write his name and asked, "Is that your name JADE? I've been calling you Jay."

Got any good stories to share?

One of my customers at work that I saw 4 and 5 times a week finally told me his name was Gordon after I had been calling him Randy for all of that time. Someone told me his name was Randy and it stuck! I wrote comps for everyone and prided myself of knowing everyone's first and last names. OOPS Gordon though it was funny and let me write his comps under Randy and his real last name.

I babysat for a little cousin(Tina) of mine that was visiting from California. She wasn't in school yet, so she must have been about 4 years old.We were outside playing catch, hoola hoop and whatever else I could find to do. She started saying, "Mitt tee Fot tee". For the life of me, I couldn't understand what she meant. She ended up crying because she couldn't make me understand. When her parents came back, she was asleep, and I had told them what had happened. They called me later to say that she was trying to tell me "Mr. Frosty". LOL She heard the music of one of those ice cream trucks that drive through the neighbor hood.

I went to a party and was introduced to a lot of people at the same time and I couldn't remember who was who. There was a disabled man with his dog, one was called Mason and one was called Morgan. I talked to Morgan the entire time and later found out I had called him his dogs name...I really felt like an idiot.

My mother in law who passed away last year used to call the name of every grandson out every time she needed something . She never could keep them straight since her stroke. So everyones names eluded her.

I have always been awful with names... funny thing for someone who worked with so many people. I could remember your drink, but not your name, in fact I still remember what a lot of my old regulars drank! Silly thing...
