My landlord gave me a 5 day notice today. I have to come up with $3700.00 in 5 days or they are going to start the eviction . I don't have it. How long before the Sheriff shows up at my door.

They can't, there is a new law that requires them to give you 60 days to find a new place.

Do you strickly rent or is it a rent to own situation?
It is hard to feel sorry for you because $3700 is quite a bit to be indebt for. This means that for several months there has been no payment.
what have you been doing with the money?
When you move, how can the new owner know that you will pay for your next place?
This is going to make it hard for you to find a DECENT place to live. Until you figure out a way to prevent this from happeneing again, you and the sherrif are going to become good friends.
In indiana there is a clause in the law where NO one can be evicted this close to xmas, so you might want to call and see if there is some compassionate thing there where you live.
If you go to church, maybe you can contact your minister and see if you can find another place to live that you can manage to afford. Ministers make good references and you are going to need one with this blemish on your credit report.
Tommorrow morning it is time for you to find a place to live...if your stuff is sitting out on your lawn you wll be VERY embarrassed and your kids will experience trama

I'd say 5 days. Get off the computer and start looking for a new place to live.
