I support equal rights for everybody!!!! Gay, straight, black, white, Latino, it doesn't matter. We are all HUMAN, and all want to be treated the same. The whole argument on gays wanting "special rights" is a load of crap! We can't get married, only civil unions or domestic partnerships with half *** benefits, we can be fired from work just for being gay, (except in Wisconsin and Minnesota I believe) luckily I live in Wisconsin and go to school in Minnesota!! We can't even serve in the military openly...which is really a load a crap. Here we are willing to DIE FOR A COUNTRY THAT WON'T EVEN SHOW US EQUALITY?!?!?! ...And we can't even be who we are in the process??? We can barely adopt, gay men can't even be boy scout leaders! And having an openly gay public official is nearly unheard of. Surly we cannot be asking for special rights, we are asking to be treated as first class citizens, not second class people with minimum rights. I could go on, but I think you get the picture. I support equal rights for all!!!!

Well I am gay and here is some insight:
For Civilization to truely work it must be fair. Not treating everyone equally is not fair. When people are not treated fairly it generates hate and anger. Hate and anger due to oppression leads to Revolt. Not Good. And Many things get out of hand... If an amendment is passed to banned all gay marrige, it could snow ball effect: They then pass a amaendment saying it is ok to fire/not enploy someone based on sexual oritation, then so on and so on.
I do mean to sound like a crazy, because i dont believe it will happen again. But That's how the Holocaust went down. Hitler didnt just start killing jews He slowly took their rights away for a few years before he Started concentration camps.... So I conclude that for Civilization to truely work everone must be equall.

As opposed to gay lefts, or gay wrongs? There's no such thing as rights which apply to only one group, but also nothing can be called "rights" which exclude any select group of people. Gay people are human. They are entitled to the same rights as every other human being. Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, the right to privacy, respect, and love. It is nonsense to think of any of these belonging only to people who fit preconceived notions of who and what is "normal". If rights are based on reading the Bible, what's wrong with basing them on some other religious text like the Kama Sutra?

I've had them individually for my entire life yet I can't get them as a couple? i've been together --monogamously mind you -- for 27 years. Most other heterosexual marriages of my generation have fallen by the wayside. We should be getting a medal not having to fight to get hospital and health benefits.
Love isn't about "rights". It's about who I choose to love as a consenting adult. No one's denying rights to any other Woman or to any other Minority because of skin colour -- except on the basis of sexual Orientation. It's Wrong. I would like my Rights Please.
Please, sir.... I would like some More.

I think couples should have the same rights as any others, be they male/female, male/male, or female/female.
Now, I'm certain that someone is going to chime in with an answer that says that anything else but male/female is against God's law, and it might be, but let God judge them.
The government should stay out of the bedroom, and what happens between two consenting adults.

Since a gay person can legally be fired from their job for no other reason than being gay, since a gay person can legally be denied an apartment lease for no other reason than being gay, since a gay person can legally be denied a home mortgage for no other reason than being gay, since a gay person can legally be denied hospital visitation for an ill partner for no other reason than being gay, & since a gay person can lose their jointly owned home upon a death of a partner while a married straight person would not... I support EQUAL rights for gay people.

Well, these rights should hold for all:
The right to be left alone.
The right to make bigots stay away.
The right to privacy.
The right to live as you see fit, subject to not breaking laws, etc.
The right to not be discriminated against.
Are these gay rights ? Maybe someday.
Special rights, my ***. We just want the same rights as everyone else.
Do people talk of 'black rights', or did they in the 50's ? No.

I don't think they should be judged or treated any differently. It's not always a lifestyle choice; they are born that way.

Everyone should.

Where do the gays fit in this world?
They have rights.

Right to what? There are no family values to promote in a gay relationship as an imbalance exists for children without a mother and father. The Big Brother and Sister organizations exist primarily for this reason. Marriage is for members of the opposite sex with marital rights as the benefit.
