Most, if not all, modern laptops have wi-fi built in. You may still find older models that do not. There may be a function key you have to press before pressing the key with the blue icon.

A lot of modern laptops do, check the manual to find out what all the extra key functions do. But even some older laptops that have a switch may not actually come with the wireless card installed. (My old Toshiba's got an internal slot for a wireless card and a switch to turn it on, but my specific model didn't come with the card installed.)

While they have become pretty common, not all laptops have wireless built in. Especially if the laptop is over a year or two old.

Most of the laptop have a wirelss switch button. Few don't. Instead you can press F2 & FN at the same time to switch on your radio or wireless.
