Most color blind people handle traffic lights quite well. The red light is on top, the yellow in the middle..and green is on bottom. So they don't really need to know the exact color...just be able to distinguish which of the three lights is lit.
From your spelling of "colour", I'm assuming you're in either Canada, Australia, England (or some other part of the UK)...so I don't know if the light arrangement is the same.

Not usually, because traffic lights are specifically designed so that the different coloured lights appear in the same order/position on all traffic lights.

I have a friend who prevented one of his colour-blind (red/green colour-blindness) friends from going through a stop sign once by stomping on the brake from the passenger seat - the trees behind the stop sign made it virtually invisible to the driver!

I am color blind.

There is a reason the red is on top followed yellow and green.

If the light is sidewards its is red yellow green left the right.

If your friend is unable to see which light is on he should not be driving.

I have a color blind friend who memorizes the position of each color of traffic lights, so assuming the position of each color light is the same, he is probably a safe driver.

well unless they dont know that red is ALWAYS ON the TOP and green is always on the bottom. So they pay attentinon to which light is lit up. if the top one is, they stop. if the bottom one is, they go. this is universal.
