You could certainly teach them or help them to walk. I do with my 9 month old daughter. I tend to hold her under her arms and have her walk with her feet, step by step. That way it shows her. Also I have her hands on the crib rails and then I hold her sides while she stands in her crib. I think that would help her build strength. I also had her in her walker I would say around 5 or 6 months. My brother has his son in the saucer and he is 4 months. He holds his head up well. Whenever u feel most comfortable, you could do it.

Walkers are the WORST thing for infants. they do not teach the child any form of walking but rather how to push w/ their belly to move. slowly they are being phased out. they are not only slow in progress to walk but also dangerous. many accidents have happen even while being watched.
you can not force or teach a child to walk. their muscles must develop on their own. if you want a place to put a child in something a bit safer then get a exasaucer. this way their muscle develop w/ out the pressure from jumping up and down or pushing the wrong way.
even jumparoos are bad on child's legs and hips. they actually cause postural problems later on which can lead to hip problems.

The 'proper' age is suposed to be 9 months, but really it depends on when your child is ready. My daughter is 8 months and has been trying to walk for 2 months and has been going in a walker for the last month and half, and she loves it. Hope this helps x

They learn it on their own but they do show signs of readiness. If your baby pulls up in their crib or onto furniture then that shows he/she has the strength. If the momentarily stand without holding onto something, that shows balance. A walker, in my opinion, doesn't help. Perhaps a push toy or a mobile piece of furniture. My daughter learned to walk by pushing a bar stool across the hard wood floors. It was ridicuolously loud and left marks on the floor but she learned to walk!

a baby is on their own schedule...they'll walk when they're ready. you can't push them to do something they're not ready to do. some babies start to stand around 7 or 8 months, others not until they're over a year old. my daughter starting walking at 9 months, but other babies i know didnt' start until after they were one. if the baby can stand on their own, then maybe you could give them a push toy to hold on to and walk with. but as far as how old they should be just depends on the baby.

You don't 'teach' a baby to walk, and lord love a duck, please don't get an old style walker on wheels. Those things are death traps - they've been banned in Canada because of the high injury/fatality rates.
The Exersaucer (any brand) or the Jumperoo are great to help them exercising those legs...but baby will walk when baby's ready...and not before.
